Our Mission
Pathways To Apprenticeship, Inc. is charged with building careers and community to last a lifetime.
Since its founding in 2013 by a small group of passionate volunteers, Pathways to Apprenticeship (P2A) has opened doors to opportunity for more than 450 individuals from low-income communities—over 60% of whom have been formerly incarcerated. Through P2A’s guidance and support, these individuals have gained admission to Building Trades apprenticeship programs that offer a clear path to stable, middle-class careers.
The results speak for themselves: more than 80% of P2A graduates remain employed in the building trades today. Many have advanced to become journey workers and shop stewards—respected leaders in their unions. Others have returned to P2A as Peer Mentors, assisting in the classroom, sharing their experiences, and inspiring the next generation to follow in their footsteps.
Every success story represents more than one individual’s transformation—it’s a family lifted out of poverty, a community strengthened, and a powerful step toward a more equitable New York. With continued support from partners and donors like you, P2A can expand this life-changing work and help even more New Yorkers build lasting careers, stable futures, and renewed hope.
